Fishing and the weather is hot in The Everglades
Report Date: July 11, 2011
With the water temperature in the mid eighties, and the air temp in the mid nineties, he bite continues to be hot here in the southern region of the Everglades.
The snook are biting over the oyster bars and in the bushes nearshore and we have found some really big fish offshore on some of the structures.
We’re still finding a lot of redfish over the bars, but the bigger fish are being caught in the bushes. With the water temp being so high, these fish are finding cooler water in the shade of the mangroves. Still finding a lot small fish. Next year should be good for keeper reds.
Offshore, the sharks are still bad, however we have been able catch a few permit. If you can find the schools away from the big structures, they can be landed.
So, if you are looking for some action, come on down to the Everglades and lets go fishing.
Capt. Herb Kehoe
